About Pentecostal Churches

The Pentecostal Church is the result of a movement that has occured within Evangelical churches. The Pentecostal church places a high emphasis on gaining a personal experience with God via the Holy Spirit. This is demonstrated by the Day of Pentecost, which is mentioned in the Bible. Many people have said that the advent of Pentecostal churches is very similar to the rise of the Charismatic Christians. However, the Pentecostal church has split from churches which are mainstream. There are a number of beliefs which are central to the Pentecostal movement. Members of this church believe that a person can be saved by believing in Jesus Christ as being a savior and being accepted by God. Because the Pentecostal church has many connections to the Methodist movement, the soteriology is more Arminian.

Like many Christian organizations, members of the Pentecostal church believe in the importance of baptism in order to signify they have made a conversion to the faith. However, many members of the Pentecostal church also believe in the concept of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is distinct from other Christian denominations. Those who have been baptized in the Holy Spirit will demonstrate the ability to speak in tongues. This is one of the primary things that separates Pentecostals from other Christian groups. They are one of the few organizations that believes that members should demonstrate supernatural signs when they are baptized in the Holy Spirit. Some members have even been known to fall to the ground or have convulsions.

The vast majority of Pentecostal churches make a separation between baptism with the Holy Spirit and salvation on a personal level. Many members of this church do not believe in the concept of a second grace. Like many Christian organizations, members of the Pentecostal church believe that the Bible is the highest source of authority. There are a number of strong similarities between Pentecostal churches and the Evangelical movement. The primary reason for this is because the Pentecostal church emerged from the Evangelical movement, and though they have distinct beliefs and differences, they still share many similarities. Members of the Pentecostal Church believe strongly in the Bible, and they consider the manuscript to be extremely reliable.

The Pentecostal church also has a view that could be described as being transrational. Even though members place a high emphasis on orthodoxy, they are also concerned with issues surrounding orthopraxy. While reason is an important part of the Pentecostal belief system, members of this church will not limit themselves to reason. Many members of this church believe that the Holy Ghost is active within the scriptures of the Bible. In their view, once a person encounters the scriptures, they are in a sense encountering God. The Holy Spirit plays an important role in the Pentecostal belief system, and members of this church believe that those who are saved will have the Holy Spirit. While there are many Christian groups that also hold similar beliefs, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a concept that makes the Pentecostal church unique.
